“It’s raw, joyful, and impossible to sit still to. A shot of vintage rock n’ roll adrenaline
in a modern landscape. Mike Van Eyes isn’t looking back, he’s carrying
the sound forward with style, heart and serious chops.”

— Dequeruza (Argentina)

“This sensational vocalist, pianist and showman brings an A List of Vancouvers top musicians
to perform a panorama of music from 1940s Jazz and Swing to 1960-1970s Soul & Funk.”

— Limited Play

“Quintessential blues-soul vibe is laced with big and bold brass orchestrations all driven
along with a seriously swinging groove and overlaid with Mike’s soulful and uplifting vocals.”

— Louder Than War (UK)

“Does it swing? It sure does. What’s not to like about this throwback to the sound of
early 60s Ray Charles. No AI, but the real thing. It will convince computer programmers
that there is still a long, long way to go if they want to replicate this sound.”

— Here Comes The Flood (Netherlands)

“On the album Ain’t That Loving You, Baby, that collective fluency drives every arrangement,
a sound built to swing in wide arcs and land with live-room confidence.”

— Canadian Beats

“Ferocious boogie-woogie groove and deep roots in classic rhythm & blues,
the song strides forward with the swagger of a seasoned artist who has spent decades
lighting up stages rather than chasing trends.”

— Delta 80, Argentina

“Mike Van Eyes delves into the touching and romantic side of his sound without
losing an iota of intensity or authenticity and cements his position as one of Canada’s
most enduring and unmistakable vocals in traditional rock and roll and R&B.”

BIO

Mike Van Eyes is Vancouver’s premiere boogie woogie rock ‘n’ roll piano player.

A cornerstone of Vancouver’s roots and rock scene for decades, Van Eyes has performed and recorded alongside an incredible lineup of legends and local heroes. From his work with The Epics and the all-star powerhouse The Trespassers (featuring members of DOA, SNFU and The Scramblers), to touring with the Herald Nix Band and sharing stages with the likes of The Clash and Howlin’ Wolf, his career has been built on genuine musical connection rather than hype. His contributions to artists like Colin James, The Yodells, Copyright, GI Blues and Peewee Clayton further cement his place as one of the city’s true musical lifers.

Mike Van Eyes Big Band features 24 of the city’s finest musicians (take a look here). Together, they produced a stellar album titled “Ain’t That Loving You, Baby” coming next year on Valentine’s Day – February 14, 2026 . The album was recorded in the Aftelife Studios (formerly the legendary Mushroom Studio) with Juno award winning engineer/producer Erik P.H. Nielsen. The first single “Yield Not To Temptation” is set to release on December 3, 2025 on beautiful 180g audiophile vinyl, compact disc and digital.

Mike’s other magical mobile unit, The Mike Van Eyes Band can play any stage – truly loved by young and old, everyone from hipsters to seniors love great rock ‘n’ roll played with the fervor, passion and skill that Mike and his all-star troupe bring. They’ve headlined numerous festivals in recent years as well as packing most of Vancouver’s acclaimed music haunts such as the Commodore, Railway Club, Revel Room and The Yale. Mike’s band includes some of Vancouver’s finest rockers – Ron Scott (Shanghai Dog), Mark Ibarra (Doucette), Bob Beaudine (Frank Frank 5) and revolving door of very special guests.

The Mike Van Eyes Big Band can be seen and heard live on rarer occasions. Mike first formed the Big Band to open for the legendary Johnny Winters at the Commodore for two nights and wowed both the crowd and Johnny! Subsequently he was asked to perform at Vancouver DuMaurier Jazz Festival the following year at Plaza of Nations. In recent years the Mike Van Eyes Big Band has performed at the Fort Langley Jazz Festival and we hope to be announcing a Big Band show in the New Year to coincide with the album release.
